WATCH: Ma'a Nonu responds to the All Blacks' Haka

At 44, All Blacks legend Ma'a Nonu produced a moment for the ages at Kings Park. Wearing Sharks colours ahead of Rugby's Greatest Rivalry, the 103-test veteran stepped forward alone to answer New Zealand's pre-match haka, delivering a powerful response as his new teammates stood arm in arm behind him.

This wasn’t a act of defiance, it was the ultimate sign of Māori respect. In traditional culture, a haka is an invitation to rise to the occasion, and Nonu met his former teammates eye-to-eye to accept that challenge on behalf of his new home. 

It was a stunning display of respect, pride and warrior spirit from a player who won two Rugby World Cups and cemented his place among the game's all time greats.
