Map1mp1 - a story of hope
From having to fashion a rugby ball out of plastic grocery bags as a child, to eventually lifting Rugby's most coveted prize, the William Webb Ellis Cup in 2019, Makazole Mapimpi’s story is inspiring.
And for the first time in South Africa, it is coming to your World of Champions!
Mapimpi became the first South African to score a Try in a Rugby World Cup Final in 2019. He is the one player who stole the hearts and minds of South Africans after the country won the tournament because of the challenges he overcame to be the best in the game.
Narrated by award-winning, sports journalist Sibusiso Mjekeliso, the film provides the viewer a lens into the most honest, intimate and visually dynamic exploration of culture, challenges and the rawness of uninhibited talent in South Africa.
From the hills of Twecu to the cityscapes of Port Elizabeth, we meet characters who helped Mapimpi rise out of poverty and became one of the best rugby players in the world.
The film explores how one single moment at the Rugby World Cup in 2019, has the potential to inspire a generation of lost boys and girls in South Africa.
This is a story of hope from a hopeless situation.
