The Vodacom Bulls have announced that their rising star Reinhardt Ludwig has renewed his contract until the end of 2030.
Ludwig, who came through the Bulls junior ranks, was headboy at Affies and is a homegrown product, is now 24 and is starting to make his way into the senior ranks with some excellent performances.
A born leader, he has captained the Bulls before, and is now tipped to play a similar role at the Bulls as Pieter-Steph du Toit does at national level, as he can slot in at five lock and seven flank where needed.

With the departure of Ruan Nortje at the end of last season, Ludwig’s role has become more important, both from a leadership role and he competes alongside former SA under-20 captain JF van Heerden at lock and with a host of players at flank.
Standing at 1.99m and weighing in at 111kg, Ludwig has matured into a top prospect and was naturally thrilled with being able to stay at Loftus.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Vodacom Bulls for the opportunity to extend. It means a lot that the coaches and the management have shown their trust and belief in me,” Ludwig said in a team statement announcing the extension.
“I’m really excited; they’ve built an unbelievable squad and it’s such a privilege to be a part of that and I’m fully committed to giving my absolute best, working hard and doing everything I can to contribute to the success of this team to take the Vodacom Bulls to another level in the next couple of seasons.
Blue Bulls Company CEO Edgar Rathbone said: “Reinhardt is exactly the kind of player we want to build this team around. He has come through our system, he leads by example, and he has the athleticism and talent to become a mainstay in our starting side. Securing him until 2030 shows how much we believe in him and in the future of this squad.”
