Uncapped Alexandre Roumat replaced flanker Dylan Cretin in the 42-player France squad announced Sunday for the Six Nations match against England.
The announcement said Cretin had "withdrawn" without giving any reason.
The 25-year-old Lyon forward, who has 17 caps, did not make the bench in any of the first three rounds.
Roumat of Toulouse has yet to play for France. His father, Olivier, won 61 caps.
Ireland lead the Six Nations with three victories. France, the defending champions, travel to Twickenham level on points with second-place Scotland and England, on two wins and a loss.
