Prop Rory Sutherland is among four players called into Scotland's Six Nations squad ahead of Saturday's match against Italy in Rome.
Sutherland is joined by fellow prop Javan Sebastian plus lock Marshall Sykes and Glasgow scrum-half Jamie Dobie.
Sione Tuipulotu, Alex Craig and WP Nel have dropped out of Gregor Townsend's squad.
Sutherland missed out on the original squad due to a lack of game time at French side Oyonnax while Edinburgh's Sebastian has been in and out of the squad due to fitness issues.
Dobie has previously trained with the 2024 Six Nations squad.
Tuipulotu drops out after suffering a knee injury in last month's victory against England and will be out for up to 12 weeks.
Scotland have won two out of their three Six Nations games this season, beating Wales and England, but were defeated narrowly by France.
Italy are bottom of the table after two defeats and a draw against France.
