If the Vodacom Bulls were hoping that the DHL Stormers would be missing a few key players and that would give them an advantage, they didn’t think past Marcel Theunissen.
The Stormers loose forward was everywhere at Loftus Versfeld and a key ingredient in a defensive line that showed no mercy and allowed no Bull to pass when it was needed.
Theunissen made a whopping 20 tackles for his side, and was in the perfect position to receive Herschel Jantjies’ flat pass that led to the Stormers first try.
But he was more than that. He was a rock that wasn’t going to be moved, and epitomised a Stormers resilience that was enough to stop the Bulls from winning on their home turf.
