Markeneh and others nominated for Player of the Season

Mekelakeya Striker Kenean Markeneh, Shimless Bekele and five others have been nominated for the Ethiopia Premier League Star of the season.

The League revealed the Star of the Season and other nominations for other key categories.

The awards for the 2023/24 season will be in three categories.

In the player of the season category, seven names were listed and players from title contenders Ethiopia Nigd Bank and Mekelakeya topped the nominations with two players from each.

Best Player of the Season candidates:

- Shimeles Bekele(Mechal)

- Fetudin Jemal(Ethiopia Nigd Bank))

- Chernet Gugsa(Bahir Dar City)

- Ali Suleiman(Hawassa City)

- Kenean Markneh(Mechal)

- Binyam Fikre(Wolayita Dicha)

In best goalkeeper of the season three candidates, including last season's winner Abubeker Nura, were listed.

Best Goalkeeper of the Season candidates:

- Firew Getahun(Ethiopia Nigd Bank)

- Seid Habtamu(Adama Kenema)

- Abubeker Nura(Ethiopia Medhin)

The third category of nominees was for the best young player of the season. In this category, five players were selected from five different clubs.

Best Young Player of the Season candidates:

- Wogene Gezahegn(Ethiopia Medhin)

- Temsgene Birhanu(Hadiya Hosaena)

- Yohannes Mengistu(Mechal)

- Befikadu Alemayehu(Ethiopia Bunna)
