In a spirited celebration of tennis and community spirit, Tennis South Africa (TSA) and American Express have inaugurated the Amex Tennis Town, a vibrant fan park coinciding with The Championships, Wimbledon 2024, at Montecasino.

Operated in South Africa through licensee Nedbank, American Express brings its global partnership with Wimbledon to local enthusiasts, enriching the tennis experience on African soil.

From July 5 to 7 and 12 to 14 at 1 pm until late, the Amex Tennis Town transforms Montecasino into a haven for tennis aficionados.

It will boast live screenings of Wimbledon matches, a delectable food village featuring culinary delights like the classic strawberries and cream, and a plethora of engaging activities aimed at enhancing spectator engagement.

The centrepiece of the Amex Tennis Town's community engagement efforts was a mass coaching clinic on its opening day, where over 50 children from development centres across Gauteng received expert guidance.

The initiative underscores the event's commitment to nurturing local talent and fostering a love for tennis among South Africa's youth.

Gavin Crookes, President of Tennis South Africa, said they are excited to host the Amex Tennis Town. β€œThe first fan park of its kind in South Africa during The Championships, Wimbledon,” he said.

The initiative not only promises an unparalleled viewing experience but also supports TSA's efforts to cultivate the next generation of tennis stars through the American Express Tennis Development Programme.

Briana Wilsey, Vice President and General Manager of Global Network Services EMEA at American Express, highlighted the company's longstanding commitment to tennis globally, saying that American Express is proud to bring the Amex Tennis Town to South Africa, building on our deep partnership with Wimbledon.

β€œWe look forward to creating lasting memories for Card Members and tennis enthusiasts alike, showcasing why tennis is better with Amex," she said.

The Amex Tennis Town not only enriches the spectator experience but also contributes meaningfully to the community.

Ticket proceeds benefit Tennis South Africa, supporting initiatives like the American Express Tennis Development Programme, which includes nurturing talent within development squads and wheelchair tennis programs across the country.

American Express Card Members enjoy exclusive perks such as a 50 per cent discount on entry, priority seating, and discounts at the Wimbledon Shop and food vendors, alongside branded gift packs and TSA members benefit from a 30 per cent discount on all tickets, further enhancing accessibility to the event.

Additionally, the fan park will host a mixed doubles competition featuring top tennis schools from Gauteng, adding a competitive edge to the festivities while highlighting local tennis talent.

Mount View High School in Hanover Park, Western Cape, has been selected as the recipient of an American Express multi-sport court, underscoring the event's legacy of promoting sports accessibility and excellence.

Tickets for the Amex Tennis Town are available through Ticketpro, priced at R200 for the public, R50 for children, and free for those under 2 years old.

Hospitality packages are also on offer, providing VIP treatment for those seeking an elevated experience.
