South African referee Jaco Peyper limped out of the Rugby World Cup quarterfinal between Wales and Argentina in Marseille on Saturday with an injury and was replaced by England’s Karl Dickson.
Peyper left the field after Wales scored the opening try of the game on 16 minutes, telling the two captains he could not keep up with the play in the movement that led up to Dan Biggar’s score which gave the Welsh a 7-0 lead.
The experienced Peyper was officiating in his 67th test having also been in the middle when France defeated New Zealand in the tournament opener in Paris.
Depending on who reaches the final at this year's tournament in France, he will be a contender to officiate the deciding match if fit.
