A coaching merry-go-round in the Betway Premiership
A total of 32 different coaches have been appointed to take charge of clubs in the Betway Premiership already this season, with the campaign not yet at the halfway stage.
Already more than the 27 different coaches have worked at the 16 top-flight clubs since last season.
Muhsin Ertugral (Cape Town City) and Thabo September (Chippa United) are the latest to fill the coaching hot seat.
Owen da Gama also made a return after being appointed at Magesi.
Only six coaches have managed to hold onto their jobs since the season kicked off in August.
They are Steve Barker (Stellenbosch), Gavin Hunt (SuperSport United), John Maduka (Royal AM), Phuti Mohafe (Polokwane City), Nasredddine Nabi (Kaizer Chiefs) and Jose Riveiro (Orlando Pirates).
Never before in the history of the domestic game has a coach come and gone before the start of the season, without taking charge of a single game, so it was extraordinary that there were three before the start of this season.
Dylan Kerr quit after just three weeks at Marumo Gallants while Vusi Vilakazi was sacked at Richards Bay, followed then by the departure of Peter Hyballa from Sekhukhune United all before a ball had been kicked in anger.
The first coach fired once the league season had started was Pablo Martin at AmaZulu and he has been followed by Brandon Truter at Richards Bay; Manqoba Mngqithi at champions Mamelodi Sundowns; Kwanele Kopo at Chippa United and Eric Tinkler last week.
Sead Ramovic quit TS Galaxy to take up an offer in Tanzania while Mabhuti Khenyeza walked out on Lamontville Golden Arrows, saying he was tired of management interference, as did Clinton Larsen at Magesi.
Dan Malesela was sent away for two matches at Marumo Gallants but is now back at the club.
