Stellenbosch have moved quickly to replace Jayden Adams in the heart of their midfield, using some of the transfer fee received from Mamelodi Sundowns to buy Thato Khiba from TS Galaxy.

The 28-year-old joined Stellenbosch on their return from Sunday’s 5-0 loss in the African Confederation Cup against Renaissance Berkane in Morocco and could line up for his Stellies debut when they meet AmaZulu in Umlazi on Thursday in a Betway Premiership catch-up fixture.

The transfer fee for Khiba was not disclosed as neither was the terms of his new contract but the move confirmed by the club on social media

Khiba is something of a late bloomer, playing first at Uthongathi in the National First Division before his top flight debut for Marumo Gallants in August, 2021.

After two seasons with the club, he moved to Galaxy at the beginning of the last season and quickly established himself as a key creative force in the midfield.

Khiba is the first purchase for Stellenbosch in the January transfer window, but one or two more signings are expected to strengthen their squad as they have reached the last eight of the Confederation Cup.
