Buccaneers maintain perfect start; Sundowns back to winning form
Midweek action in the Betway Premiership saw leaders Orlando Pirates maintain their perfect start to the 2024-25 season, while Mamelodi Sundowns bounced back to winning form, and Kaizer Chiefs played out a 2-2 thriller with top-flight rookies Magesi FC.
Sundowns, who had suffered a surprise loss at the hands of Polokwane City this past weekend, handed Cape Town City a 3-0 thrashing at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Wednesday.

Third place is occupied by Polokwane City, who edged Royal AM 1-0 at the Harry Gwala Stadium courtesy of a late strike from Bonginkosi Dlamini.
The pick of Wednesday’s matches was played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, where Kaizer Chiefs fought back from two goals down to hold Magesi FC 2-2.
Dikwena Tsa Meetse looked on course for a famous win thanks to goals from Wonderboy Makhubu and Edmore Chirambadare, but the Amakhosi’s Mduduzi Shabalala scored a quickfire brace to salvage a point for the visitors.
Wednesday also saw Golden Arrows and SuperSport United play out a goalless stalemate at Mpumalanga Stadium.
Tuesday’s trio of matches was headlined by Pirates making it six wins from six since the start of the league campaign, as they trumped TS Galaxy 2-0 at the Mbombela Stadium thanks to goals from Thalente Mbatha and Relebohile Mofokeng.
The Rockets dropped to last place on the log due to AmaZulu picking up their first points of the season with a 2-0 triumph over Chippa United at Moses Mabhida Stadium (goals from Hendrick Ekstein and Celimpilo Ngema), while Sekhukhune United rose to third place thanks to a 2-0 win over Richards Bay at the Peter Mokaba Stadium (goals from Siphesihle Mkhize and Sipho Mbule).
