In a fight that never rose to any heights, WBO junior welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez (19-1; 13) retained his title on Thursday night on a 12-round unanimous points decision over Jamaine Ortiz (17-1-1; 8) at the Michelob Ultra Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

The scores were 117-111 and 115-113 twice.

Lopez pushed forward for most of the fight but Ortiz, who was cut by an accidental headbutt in the seventh round, was able to stay out of range for most of the time.

The champion boxed on the back foot and only came forward on a few occasions.
