Devin Haney wins WBC junior welterweight title

Former undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney (30-0; 15) outscored and dethroned WBC junior welterweight champion Regis Prograis (29-1; 24) on Saturday night at the Chase Centre in San Francisco.

Haney scored a knockdown in the third round and dominated, winning all 12 rounds to win with scores of 120-107 on all three judges’ scorecards.

On the same card Australia’s Liam Paro (24-0; 15) stopped Montana Love (18-2-1; 9) in the sixth round.

Paro scored with an uppercut and dropped Love, who manged to beat the count but Paro knocked him down again.

He managed to beat the count once again but was being dominated and sent down again. Love managed to beat the count but the referee had seen enough and waved the fight off at 1:49 into the sixth round.

)Lightweight Andy Cruz (2-0; 1) from Cuba stopped Jovanni Straffon (26-6-1; 19) of Mexico in the third round. The time was 53 seconds.

Japan’s Myo Yoshida (17-4) defeated Australia’s Ebanie Bridges (9-2; 3) to claim the IBF woman’s bantamweight title.

Yoshida was in control as she outworked Bridges to win with scores of 99-91, 99-91, and 97-93.

DAWEJKO WINS IN ONE ROUND

Heavyweight Joey “Tank” Dawejko (27-10-4; 15) stopped Jesse Bryan (21-8-2; 16) in the first round on Saturday night at the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City.

FORMER WBC CHAMPION WINS IN THE THIRD ROUND

Former WBC featherweight champion Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo (25-2; 17), won on a third-round knockout over Isaac Avelar (17-7; 10) on Saturday night at Infinite Reality Studios in Long Beach, California. in a junior lightweight bout.

RAFAEL ESPINOZA WINS WBO FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE

Rafael “El Divino” Espinoza (22-0; 18) beat defending WBO featherweight champion Robeisy “El Tren” Ramirez (13-1; 8) on a 12-round majority decision on Saturday night at the Charles F. Dodge City Centre in Pembroke Pines, Florida.

The taller Espinoza was in control until Ramirez dropped him at the end of the fifth round.

Ramirez continued to stun Espinoza for several rounds, but Espinoza came back strong in the later rounds and scoring a knockdown in the twelfth round.

The scores were 113-113, 114-112, and 115-111.

WBO No 2 junior middleweight Xander Zayas (18-0; 12) smashed Jorge Fortea (24-4-1; 9) to defeat in the fifth round. Time was 1:37.

Featherweight Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington (10-0; 6) won on a second-round knockout over Jason Sanchez (16-5; 9). Time was 2:59.

United States Olympic super heavyweight silver medallist Richard Torrez Jr. (8-0; 8) dominated Curtis Harper (14-11; 9) before the fight was stopped in the eighth round.

Time was 2:03 and Torrez suffered a cut over his left eye.

RYAD MERHY WINS AGAINST TONY YOKA

Former WBA cruiserweight champion Ryad Merhy (32-2; 26) won on points over ten rounds against 2016 Olympic super heavyweight gold medallist Tony Yoka (11-3; 9) on Saturday night at the Stade Roland-Garros in Paris, France.

The taller Yoka tried to keep the fight at a distance with his jab but Merhy was the aggressor.

The scores were 96-94 on all three judges’ scorecards.

OMAR CHAVEZ RETURNS AFTER A YEAR

Super middleweight Omar “The Businessman” Chavez (40-8-1; 27) returned to action on Friday night after being out for more than a year, to win on a seventh round stoppage over Javier Carrerra Tinajero (15-11; 12) at Culiacan, Sinola. Mexico.

Chavez was in control throughout before Tinajero’s corner threw in the towel. The time 2:35.

EUGENE HART WINS ON THIRD ROUND KNOCKOUT

King’s Promotions presented a card featuring some notable names on Friday night at the Wind Creek Event Centre in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

In a cruiserweight bout former two-time world title challenger and son of Philly ring legend Eugene “Cyclone” Hart, Jesse “Hard Work” Hart (30-3; 24) won on a third-round knockout over Jeyson Minda (14-8-1; 8).

Hart dropped Minda in the third round and then finished him off with a second knockdown.

Former unified junior middleweight champion “Swift” Jarrett Hurd (25-3; 17), now fighting at middleweight, won on a fourth-round technical knockout against Tyi Edmonds (14-6; 9).

Junior middleweight Travon “Sniper” Marshall (9-1; 8) stopped Roudley Lolo (6-2-2; 3).

Junior lightweight Julian Gonzalez (12-0-1; 9) outscored Juan Antonio Lopez (17-16-1; 7) over eight rounds. Scores were 79-73, 79-73, 78-74.

PAUL BUTLER STOPS NABIL AHMED IN TWO ROUNDS

Former two division world champion Paul Butler and former light heavyweight world title challenger Callum Johnson both scored quick knockout victories against overmatched opponents on Friday night at The Fuse in Partington, England (a suburb of Manchester).

Butler (36-3; 17) stopped Nabil Ahmed (2-26-2; 0) in the second round, while Johnson (21-1; 15) finished off Darryl Sharp (8-121-1; 1) in the first round.
