South Africa has a new heavyweight champion

In what was described as a relentless performance, comparative novice Juan Roux (6-0; 2) won on a 12-round split decision over defending 37-year-old South African heavyweight champion Tian Fick in Cape Town on Saturday night.

LUSANDA KOMANISI STOPS KABELO BIKITSHA IN THE SEVENTH ROUND

Former South African and IBO featherweight champion Lusanda Komanisi (25-6; 21) won the vacant WBA Pan African lightweight title when he stopped Kabelo Bikitsha in the seventh round at the Orient Theatre in East London on Saturday night.

Komanisi improved his record to 25-6; 21 and Bikisha’s record dropped to 5-7; 4.

Bikitsha has now lost four of his last six fights.
