Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong has said that the Super Eagles intend on going all out against Rwanda when the two nations meet in their latest 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Amahoro Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Kick-off is at 3:00pm (CAT, GMT+2)

CURRENT FORM

Rwanda endured a stuttering start to their latest Afcon qualifying campaign following a 1-1 draw against Libya at the Venue 11 June Stadium last week.

Nigeria on the other hand, took charge of Group D via a 3-0 victory against Benin at Venue Godswill Akpabio International Stadium last Friday, as Ademola Lookman (2) and Victor Osimhen got their names on the scoresheet in Uyo.

WHAT WAS SAID

Rwanda head coach Torsten Spittler believes his side are in a good ‘process’ ahead of their tie against the Super Eagles on Tuesday afternoon.

“We are in a good process and what we have done so far is promising,” Spittler said

“We know Nigeria is a big team with big names but I want to assure you that we are prepared and we are ready to show good football tomorrow.”

Nigeria defender William Troost-Ekong expressed that the Super Eagles are expecting a tough encounter at the Amahoro Stadium and that they intend on going ‘hard’ from the first whistle.

“There is nothing much to say other than that we are here for a purpose. Our target is the three points, and we have spoken among ourselves on the imperative of going hard for it from the first blast of the referee’s whistle,” Troost-Ekong mentioned.

“It is going to be a tough game because Rwanda have a good team and got a point from their first match. We must not relent throughout the 90 minutes.”

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Rwanda and Nigeria have met on four occasions in all competitions in the past, with the Super Eagles edging their upcoming opponents in the win column. While three draws have been played out between the two nations, Nigeria claimed a 2-0 victory against Rwanda in a Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Venue U.J. Esuene Stadium on the 16th of June 2012.
