It’s the last round of the 2022/23 Cricket South Africa (CSA) 4-Day Domestic Series this side of the season and Division One teams will look to take the break on a high-note.

BACK-TO-BACK TONS FOR DE ZORZI

The Six Gun Grill Western Province continued where they left off this past week in today’s encounter against the ITEC Knights at Newlands.

The visitors opted to bat first as the batting line-up struggled to take shape against Western Province bowlers. Notable contributions were in the twenties from Gihahn Cloete (29), Alfred Mothoa (25), and Raynard van Tonder (20).

Beuran Hendricks was most successful, returning 4/16 in less than ten overs. Nandre Burger, Dane Paterson, and Tshepo Moreki all claimed two wickets each as Knights were restricted to 111 all out.

Back-to-back centuries for Tony de Zorzi (104*), who shares an unbeaten 227-run partnership with Yaseen Vallie (119*) to give the hosts a comfortable lead on Day One.

RICHARDS TON POWES LIONS

The Jukskei derby was off to a good start between the DP World Lions and Momentum Multiply Titans at the Wanderers.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Lions’ Joshua Richards (107 of 127) powered to a comfortable century with 18 boundaries and one maximum to set the home-side for a solid start.

Ryan Rickelton (42*) and Sisanda Magala (31*) saw the day off and Lions are 251/6.

Simon Harmer was the chief destroyer on day one, claiming all six wickets to record 6/48 in 32 overs with 14 maidens.

SMUTS LEADS THE CHARGE FOR DOLPHINS

In Durban, Jon Jon Smuts led the charge claiming five wickets as the Hollywoodbets Dolphins bowled out the Gbets Rocks for 211 runs.

Rocks won the toss and elected to bat first. Clyde Fortuin’s unbeaten 93* was the only resistance against the dominant Dolphins bowling attack. Other notable contributions were from Ferisco Adams (30) and Romano Terblanche (22).

BREETZKE, ROSIER POWER WARRIORS

The Dafabet Warriors were put to the bat first in Gqeberha against the North West Dragons. Matthew Breetzke is currently on 97* off 208 and has had the support of Diego Rosier (80 off 136) as Warriors ended the day on 339/5. A steady innings with contributions from Kyle Jacobs (48), Jordan Hermann (48), and Lesiba Ngoepe (32).
