After having two One Day Cup games washed out at the beginning of the season, the DAFABET Warriors team is anxiously checking weather forecasts – for Johannesburg on Friday and their home ground in Gqeberha on Sunday.

The matches against Western Province in Cape Town on September 25 and against Hollywoodbets Dolphins in Gqeberha on September 30 were abandoned due to rain.

On Friday, October 6, they play DP World Lions at the Wanderers, starting at 13:00.

“It has been a frustrating couple of weeks not being able to play any games due to the weather, but we have been training exceptionally well and the one thing that stands us in good stead is that the guys are really hungry to play,” says captain Matthew Breetzke.

“We are really looking forward to this weekend against the Lions, who are always a strong team, but we feel we have prepared well enough to go there and win.”

A hot day with a maximum of 32 degrees is forecast for Johannesburg on Friday, with light drizzle and clouds on Sunday in Gqeberha following two days of rain.

The Dafabet Warriors squad for Friday’s clash against the DP World Lions is Matthew Breetzke (capt), Liam Alder, Jordan Hermann, Patrick Kruger, Renaldo Meyer, Andile Mokgakane, Alfred Mothoa, Aphiwe Mnyanda, Jivesan Pillay, Sinethemba Qeshile, Tristan Stubbs, Beyers Swanepoel, Nealan van Heerden, and Sean Whithead.

Sunday’s team will be finalised on Saturday, according to coach Robbie Peterson.

The Sunday October 8 match against Momentum Multiply Titans begins at 10 in the morning.

There will be One Day Cup action again at DAFABET St George’s Park on Sunday, October 15 when the DAFABET Warriors play AET Tuskers, and Sunday October 22 when they meet North West Dragons.
