Rain had the final say on Tuesday evening as the CSA Division 1 T20 Challenge match between the DP World Lions and Gbets Rocks was abandoned without a ball being bowled at the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom.

The storm that had threatened throughout the afternoon and early evening arrived with a vengeance, just after the Lions had won the toss and elected to field first in a vitally important encounter.

In the day’s earlier game the fourth-placed ITEC Knights were upset by the bottom-of-the-table North West Dragons, which opened the door for the Lions to sneak into the play-offs, however they had to beat the third-placed Rocks in the two teams' final pool game if they were to have any chance.

Unfortunately for the Lions, and fortunately for the Knights, the result was decided by the elements, which thus confirmed the semifinal match-ups.

On Wednesday afternoon the Momentum Multiply Titans will take on the Knights at 2:30pm in a replay of the incredible game between the two sides on Monday, where Dewald Brevis slammed 162 runs off 57 balls, breaking a host of South African records along the way, while 501 runs in total was scored in the match.

The second semi will then see the Hollywoodbets Dolphins up against the Rocks, getting under way at 6pm.

The winners of those two games will then take each other on in the final at 2:30pm on Saturday at the JB Marks Oval.
