WSB WP Allrounder calls for the team to improve their performances

World Sports Betting Western Province Allrounder Onke Nyaku revealed the team knows how to lift supporters' spirits at home as they prepare for the CSA T20 Challenge round seven clash.

Province will play their away match against the AET Tuskers at World Sports Betting Newlands on Wednesday, 27 March 2024.

Tuskers' home fixture was moved to Newlands by Cricket South Africa (CSA) and KZN Inland Cricket.

The match will start at 13:30 and will be live on the SuperSport YouTube page.

Nyaku said the Province will aim to turn things around from home but is wary of the unpredictable Tuskers.

"We're coming from two tough games on the road, so it's good to be back home. But as you've seen over the last few days, any team can beat any team. And that was the result between the Tuskers and the Lions game, so they definitely have a little bit of momentum on their side," said Nyaku.

"We're going to have to play very well in order to end up on the right side of the result - and hopefully get the win.

"But it will be a tough game, we know their bowling's been doing reasonably well. The batting hasn't really come to the party, but I mean, it's pretty much the same in our sense also. So, it will be a tough game."

Playing at Newlands always brings momentum for Salieg Nackerdien's side.

Even though it's the Province away match, Nyaku says playing in front of their fans they will use that as their advantage.

"I think we're going to have to play very well in order to get away with the win for this game. But it is a home fixture for the Tuskers, however playing at Newlands, our guys know how to play here," he said.

"We've had some really outstanding results playing at home, so we're going to obviously take all of that knowledge into this game.

"We are going to try and get the best possible result and get some momentum into our season - it won't be an easy game, but the boys will throw a strong fight which is, at the end of the day, what you play for. We don't want the easy games. We want games to be tough and challenging, I know the boys are definitely up for it."

Nyaku adds that a lot still needs to be done and polished by the Province having not done well on the road and still remains third on the log.

"As I said earlier, we're only just going to focus on our own basics, focus on ourselves. And try to tick all the right boxes - I think if we do that no team will end up with a good result against us, adds Nyaku.

We've had a few away games and it's been up and down but, I mean, we're still third in the log.

"And if we're being honest with ourselves, we'll probably say that. We haven't really played to our full potential.

The Province is currently sitting in the third spot in the log with 16 points.
