More than 500 football matches & plenty more live sport on SuperSport this festive season

Between December 2024 and January 2025, Your World of Champions will broadcast more than 500 football matches live, plus all the rugby, cricket, UFC, WWE and Formula 1 that fans can enjoy.

To mark a Festive Season like no other, SuperSport proudly brings viewers more than 500 live football matches between the start of December 2024 and the end of January 2025, and plenty more besides.

The Festive Season is a truly incomparable live sports offering for DStv, DStv Stream and Showmax subscribers, who will have the chance to view live sport around the clock for 61 days during the happiest time of the year.

SuperSport kicked off the unrivalled live football offering by bringing 31 days of Non-Stop Football, when between 22 November to 22 December, DStv subscribers would have had the chance to watch at least one live football match every single day.

On 23 November, the Premier League also kicked off its incredible spell of 90 matches in 45 days until 6 January 2025, when the world’s biggest league ramps up its action with its unmissable dose of high-octane action in the short time span.

Of course, all Premier League matches are available on SuperSport and Showmax Premier League live.

Premier League action doesn’t get better than Arsenal hosting Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium in one of the Premier League’s traditional rivalries on Wednesday 4 December.

New Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim will hope to lay an early marker since taking charge at Old Trafford by claiming a big scalp in Arsenal, who have restored their title ambitions following a convincing 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at home and a 5-2 win against West Ham away.

While Amorim attempts to restore United to their former glory with his first league victory against Everton 4-0, Arsenal are buoyed by the return of their talismanic captain, Martin Odegaard, who has given Mikel Arteta’s men the firepower they’ve sorely missed during his injury-enforced absence.

Man United will also have one eye on the first Manchester Derby of the season when they face Pep Guardiola’s floundering champions, Manchester City, who are on a seven-match winless run in all competitions.

City also blew a 3-0 lead with 15 minutes of regulation time remaining in the Uefa Champions League to draw 3-all with Dutch side Feyenoord.

The Citizens are also smarting from their 4-0 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

To add insult to injury, City then suffered a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield last time out, which put an 11-point gap between them and Arne Slot's table-topping machine.

'EXTRAVANGANZA OR SPORT'

“This time of the year is always hugely exciting for us as the biggest sports broadcaster in Africa and one of the biggest in the world,” said SuperSport CEO Rendani Ramovha.

“It’s a time when we get to fully display our capabilities of broadcasting multiple live sporting events simultaneously.

“While football fans will be devouring the more than 500 live matches on show, cricket fans will be caught up in the gripping bat versus ball contents during Sri Lanka, Pakistan and England Women’s tours to South Africa. 

Right when the Springboks closed off their Autumn Nations Series with a perfect three wins in three, fans immediately jump onto Vodacom United Rugby Championship and European Investec Champions Cup and EPCR Challenge Cup clashes.

“That’s just skimming the surface of what’s available between now and the end of January. It is an extravaganza of sport. It’s a period that has us and our viewers and subscribers so excited because it means not a day goes by without their fill of sporting action.”

Springboks, movie stars, Olympians and a surprise guest come together to serenade South Africans this festive season, on Your World of Champions.

On January 29, SuperSport will broadcast all 18 Uefa Champions League Match Day 8 matches live, which includes Barcelona v Atalanta and PSV Eindhoven against Liverpool.

CRICKET ACTION

On the cricket pitch, the Proteas men welcome Sri Lanka for two test matches before the visit of Pakistan, who are in South Africa for three T20I, three ODIs and two tests from 10 December to 10 January.

The incredible Betway SA20 Season 3 begins 9 January, when the finest T20 franchise cricketers on the globe converge in South Africa for an exhibition of splendid and explosive cricket.

LOADS OF RUGBY

Vodacom United Rugby Championship rugby resumed with a tasty Coastal Derby between the Hollywoodbets Sharks and the DHL Stormers, won by the home side in a close 21-15 encounter on Saturday 30 November at Hollywoodbets Kings Park. 

On 21 December, the Stormers host highflying men from the Highveld, the Emirates Lions, at the DHL Stadium while the Sharks host the Vodacom Bulls.

 A week later, the Stormers host the Sharks in the return fixture in Cape Town and former winners Munster host Leinster in the big Irish Derby.

There is loads more rugby in store for fans, starting with the Investec Champions Cup and EPCR Challenge Cup, which plays on 6 December.

The HSBC SVNS Cape Town kicks off on 7 and 8 December.

F1, GOLF AND MAJOR TENNIS

On 8 December, Formula 1 goes to Abu Dhabi, a week after visiting Qatar. 

Golf fans can also enjoy the Nedbank Golf Challenge, “Africa’s Major”, from 5 December to 8 December, played at the Gary Player Country Club inside Sun City.

Other major tournaments to look forward to during this period include the Australian Open tennis, which starts on 15 January and runs until 28 January 2025.
