SA Emerging beaten in final one-dayer but win series
South Africa Emerging were undone by Brandon Mavuta in the final game of their five-match one-day series against Zimbabwe Emerging, going down by eight wickets at Groenkloof Oval in Tshwane on Wednesday.
The legspinner claimed an impressive 5-26 in a clash that was effectively a dead rubber after the hosts had taken an unassailable lead in the previous game.
Malibongwe Maketa’s side therefore walked away with the series 3-2.
However, they were easily rolled over in the final game that lasted a mere 27 overs.
The visitors won the toss and opted to bowl first at the start – a decision that proved the correct one on the Highveld as they dismissed the home side for only 69.
Valentine Kitime top-scored with 24 but no other batter managed to reach double figures.

Victor Nyauchi took 3-24, including the dismissal of the opener, while Faraz Akram bagged 2-18.
The pair were excellent in support of Mavuta, who ran through the middle and lower order to send the South Africans sliding in 20 overs.
The second highest score for the home side were the 20 extras conceded by Zimbabwe.
But their reply lasted just seven overs with Tinashe Kamunhukamwe (32) and Tanunurwa Makoni (34 not out) powering their side to the target.
Peter Nqaba’s 2-11 in his only over proved to be in vain with the hosts easily beaten.
