Sprinter Ewan hopes Ineos move sparks revival

Australian sprint specialist Caleb Ewan, a five-time Tour de France stage winner, will attempt to relaunch his cycling career after signing a one-year deal with Ineos Grenadiers on Thursday.

The 30-year-old has 63 professional wins, including five stages on the Giro d'Italia and one on the Vuelta a Espana, but is coming off two lean seasons with Lotto and then Jayco-AlUla.

"This is a really exciting new challenge for me and a fantastic opportunity to get back to my best," Ewan said in a team statement.

"In 2025, my goal is to return to winning big races. It's been a few years since I've won some of those major events but I firmly believe I have it in me."

Ineos have also fallen on hard times and lost Tom Pidcock to the second-tier Q36.5 team last month but hope the arrival of Ewan can lead to a resurgence for a team that recorded its fewest wins last season since its creation in 2010.
