Momentum Proteas v India Women Tri Series match washed out
Just two overs were possible before the rain returned to East London and washed out the fifth Tri Series match, between the Momentum Proteas and India Women at Buffalo Park on Saturday night.
India had won the toss and chosen to bat first, but got off to a sluggish start facing 11 dot balls out of the opening 12 deliveries, with one ball making its way to the boundary off the bat of Jemimah Rodrigues, when the rain that had come down before the match returned.
Both teams had already qualified for Thursday’s Tri Series final at the same ground, but the Proteas would have liked to have picked up some more momentum after they lost the first game of the series against India last week.
They will now have to head into the final with their two strong wins over West Indies as their momentum.
India are unbeaten in the Tri Series so far, having beaten the Proteas and West Indies, and they will be eager to head into the final with an unblemished record, so will be targeting another win over West Indies in their final pool clash on Monday afternoon.
