Two men have been sentenced to four years in prison after stealing luxury watches including one from double Tour de France champion Tadej Pogacar.

The individuals aged 32 and 37 were also handed a 50 000 euros ($54 829) fine by a Nice court on Tuesday after taking the item from the Slovenian's hotel room in March.

The watch, made by a sponsor of Pogacar's Team UAE Emirates, Richard Mille, with a value of 165 000 euros, has yet to be found.

According to the Nice-Matin newspaper, the pair had also stolen a safe from a couple which included two watches.

In April, authorities in nearby Italy announced the arrest of three men after a luxury watch worth 300 000 euros and owned by Formula One driver Charles Leclerc was stolen from his wrist.
