Stellies confirm Matsi capture on loan
Newly-promoted Stellenbosch FC have unveiled yet another signing with the capture of experienced Cape Town City midfielder Mpho Matsi on loan for the 2019/20 Absa Premiership season.
Matsi has fallen out of favour at City and spent the second half of last season with Maritzburg United, where he was reunited with coach Eric Tinkler.
But he will now seek to cement Stellenbosch’s place in the top-flight under another of his former bosses, Steve Barker, after the pair spent a number of seasons together at University of Pretoria.
#LaLiga will have one less star on show next season with Marco Asensio rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament during a friendly against Arsenal. He is expected to miss the majority of the season.

His last seven seasons have been spent in the Absa Premiership, mostly as a regular at AmaTuks, Mpumalanga Black Aces, City and Maritzburg.
He joins the likes of Morgan Gould (Supersport United), Boy De Jong (Anderlecht, Belgium), Diego Franco (University of Pretoria), Marc Van Heerden (AmaZulu) and Dickson Afoakwa (NK Triglav, Slovenia) in joining the Winelands club.
