Orlando Pirates coach Rhulani Mokwena says he still has “absolute belief” in his side following their 3-3 Absa Premiership draw with Cape Town City on Saturday.

Pirates trailed 2-0 early on, but came back to lead 3-2 before conceding an equaliser to settle for a point.

It means they have just a single win from Mokwena’s eight games in charge, but the young coach is confident that they can turn things around soon, especially as they have no scheduled fixture for almost a month until they meet Stellenbosch FC on October 26.

"I have an absolute belief and confidence in the squad and the team," he told reporters.

"We've got to do more from our side, technically, to support them because if you look at some of the goals that we concede, you also have to look at our organisational forms and maybe when we were playing too many draws 0-0, 1-1.

“We put a lot more focus on the offensive scheme and offensive patterns."

Mokwena felt his side are repeating the same errors though and that has caused some frustration.

"The same week in and week out,” he said. “We started a little bit shaky, we go 1-0 down, we're still shaky again. We go 2-0 down against a run of play a little bit, try to find our feet again and a bit of emotional stability which we struggled with at the beginning of the match.

"Once you're 2-0 [down] you go a little bit and show character. We were the better team by far after the first 15 minutes. We should have won the match.”
