City sink Pirates, Amakhosi return to winning ways
Entertainment and drama was the order of the day in the latest list of Betway Premiership fixtures on Wednesday night, as Cape Town City triumphed over Orlando Pirates, while Kaizer Chiefs added their names to the winning column for the first time this year.
Beginning in the Mother City, Orlando Pirates suffered a 1-0 defeat against Cape Town City in their latest league assignment that took place at the DHL Stadium.
Fresh off a win against Kaizer Chiefs, City battled to fend off a well-drilled Bucs outfit, who were eager to leave the Mother City with maximum points.
However, Darwin Gonzalez had other plans as the Venezuelan star scored the only goal of the game in the 74th minute.

In what was most frustrating for Pirates, Patrick Maswanganyi missed a penalty moments before Gonzalez handed the hosts the lead, and they struggled to get into the game thereafter.

Moans and groans sounded through the Calabash after Khomotjo Lekolane gave Stellenbosch the lead in the 20th minute. However, the Glamour Boys kicked into gear and levelled matters just eight minutes later, thanks to a timely effort by Wandile Duba.
