Polokwane City won their latest Betway Premiership match 1-0 against Marumo Gallants on Sunday afternoon at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Although Gallants had more possession in the encounter, Rise and Shine’s defensive structure came to play ensuring they grabbed all three points.

Simon Ramabu opened the scoring for City early in the second half, with his effort making it into the back of the net at the 20th minute mark.

The first stanza ended with the hosts ahead and when the second half went underway, Siwele sa Marumo pilled on the pressure.

Thabang Matuludi’s heroics in the end of the match proved useful, as a strike towards the goal was parried into a dangerous area by Polokwane City goalkeeper Manuel Sapunga was not dealt with properly.

Matuludi’s match saving clearance off the line was impressive, resembling a bicycle kick much to the dismay of Sekela Sithole who was looking for his second goal of the Betway Premiership season.

The game ended with the hosts getting a crucial win at home, leaving Gallants to go back to the drawing board and prepare for their next match in the league against Orlando Pirates on Tuesday, 24 December.
