AmaZulu keep ball rolling, CT City victorious in weekend action
AmaZulu dusted themselves off from their previous woes as they went back to winning ways in the Betway Premiership this weekend.
Sinking their KZN rivals Royal AM 2-1 at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Friday evening restored the morale the team had and saw them rise to 11th on the league standings.
Usuthu head co-coach Arthur Zwane has revealed as well why he would’ve preferred a New Year’s Day fixture.
Zwane highlighted that a New Year’s Day fixture would have been beneficial for AmaZulu, as it would have kept the team focused and avoided any holiday-season relaxation that might disrupt their momentum.
“As South Africans, we tend to relax when things are going well for us, but there’s no room for that,” said the former Kaizer Chiefs coach.
“We need to start focusing on the next match right away. “I’m pleased that we’re playing in December—against Mamelodi Sundowns on the 24th and then it’s Christmas.
“We need to shift our players’ mindset. They must understand that this is a business, the football business, and we also have a game on the 29th against Cape Town City FC.”
In other results, Cape Town City won 1-0 against Chippa United yesterday evening at the Buffalo City Municipality Stadium, courtesy of Kayden Francis’ goal.
SuperSport United also grabbed a victory on Saturday evening, getting a 1-0 result against Carling Knockout champions Magesi.
Polokwane City made back-to-back wins in the league on Sunday afternoon by defeating Marumo Gallants 1-0 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
