Sekhukhune United head coach Brandon Truter is targeting TS Galaxy's scalp in the Carling Knockout quarterfinals on Saturday night in a bid to quell the rumours surrounding his future.

Kick-off is at 8pm CAT (SA, GMT+2)

Truter has previously admitted to feeling the pressure this season after struggling for results and a 2-0 defeat to the Rockets in the DStv Premiership on Sunday extended their winless run to four games.

Babina Noko are punching above their weight, having finished in the top eight last term while also qualifying for CAF Confederation Cup after reaching the Nedbank Cup final earlier this year.

Speculation is rife that Truter could become the third managerial casualty of the campaign if the team's fortunes don't improve quickly and he acknowledges the raised expectations is only adding fuel to the fire.

"I am a winner and I don't understand losing. When we do lose, it hurts me a lot and it's the same with the players and I think the management as well," he said. "As a club we've achieved a lot, the club is only three seasons old.

"Last season we went from position 15 to the top eight and played the Nedbank Cup final. This season we are in the group stages of the Confed Cup.

"So the expectations go up and when your form dips like this, of course it's football; everybody is going to speculate, especially in the PSL where the coaches get fired very quickly."

'FIXTURES COME THICK AND FAST'

Galaxy caused the upset of the opening round when they dumped Mamelodi Sundowns out of the competition on penalties following a 2-2 draw.

It was a welcome win for Sead Ramovic's side, who have been battling to find the back of the net in 2023-24, although they've managed to score six goals in their last three matches across all competitions.

The Mpumalanga outfit gave SuperSport United a scare on Wednesday when they bagged two early goals to lead 2-1 in Mbombela before succumbing to a 3-2 defeat.

Ramovic conceded he doesn't have much time to prepare his players for the trip to the Peter Mokaba Stadium as the fixtures come thick and fast ahead of the next international break.

"I have to give my team great credit, they did the best they can. Yes, the small mistakes and you get punished at this level. We have to analyse things and prepare ourselves," the German said.

"It's a little bit tough for us to play three games in six days, but we have to get a great recovery... because on Saturday the cup game is a very, very tough game against a tough opponent."
