CT City edge out Royal AM as they return to the summit
Thabo September must be the most frustrated man following Sunday's DStv Diski Challenge results, where title rivals Cape Town City earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Royal AM.
The win for The Citizens saw them retaining their No 1 spot, which they have occupied for the longest time this season.
They dethroned September's charges SuperSport United who spent just one day at the summit.
SuperSport defeated Orlando Pirates 2-0 on Saturday, and they moved to the top of the table with 43 points after 20 matches.
However, on Sunday Cee-Jay Bezuidenhout scored the only goal against Royal AM to earn City maximum points to reclaim their spot back with 44 points after the same number of games.
SuperSport are now second on the log, one point behind City, while Orlando Pirates are third with 42 points.
With 10 games remaining the title race will likely be a three-horse race as the teams from position four who still have mathematical chances of challenging have been battling with consistency.
Stellenbosch FC's decline continued on Sunday as they were defeated by AmaZulu FC 3-2 in Cape Town.
In other matches played on Sunday, Swallows FC were defeated 2-1 by Maritzburg United. Richards Bay FC, playing in the Diski Challenge for the first time this season, played to a goalless draw against Sekhukhune United.
