Stellies out to compound TS Galaxy's woes
Stellenbosch FC will be out to pick up the threads when they face TS Galaxy in the DStv Diski Challenge this weekend.
The two sides will clash at Tsakane Stadium on Saturday.
The kick-off is at 10h00, CAT.
Stellenbosch are yet to lose a match in their last eight fixtures, and they have never lost a match against Galaxy. The two sides have met on three occasions, and Stellenbosch emerged victorious in all three games.
In the process, they scored nine goals, and this weekend they could add to Galaxy's woes as the reigning champions seem to have found the momentum.
Stellenbosch are second in the Diski Challenge standings with 18 points. They are only two points behind log leaders Cape Town City FC.
With City stuttering lately, Stellenbosch could top the log for the first time this weekend if they beat Galaxy and City drop points.
Galaxy have had a poor season. In eight matches, they have only collected five points from one win and two draws while losing the other five.
Galaxy coach Ashley Makhanya has blamed individual errors for their poor run and struggle to get results.
Said Makhanya: "I think when you look at how we concede goals and the chances that we allow people to create have come from our poor decisions on the ball. Individual mistakes have cost us."
Makhanya wants improvement from his team: "Individually we are trying to improve. The only way to fix that is to train. Training sessions address those things. Football is not a shortcut, you must put the building blocks because the results do not dictate so much how we train."
In other matches on Saturday, Orlando Pirates will be out to make it three victories on the trot when they visit Golden Arrows at Princess Magogo Stadium.
Pirates coach Joseph Makhanya has warned his charges not to think they have arrived after thumping Marumo Gallants 4-1 last weekend.
The last match of the day will be between AmaZulu and Mamelodi Sundowns at King Zwelithini Stadium.
