SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo says he was pleased with a point in the 0-0 DStv Premiership draw with AmaZulu on Tuesday, but felt his side created the better chances to win the game.

Both teams finished with 10 men after a feisty encounter in which Tembo and his opposite number Benni McCarthy regularly exchanged verbal barbs on the sidelines, and the Matsatsantsa boss felt it was a good outing for his side.

“I am very proud of the guys coming here and getting a point, it is always a very difficult place to come,” Tembo said. “We were very positive today, on the balance of play we created the better chances and were the better team.

“We deserved the three points, but I would take a point, just because of the team we played against. In the three [DStv Premiership] games we have played we have only conceded one goal, so credit to the defence, I thought we were very solid.”

Midfielder Jesse Donn picked up a second Man of the Match award in as many games and Tembo says he is pleased with the progress of the 22-year-old.

“For me, I am very proud to see someone like him coming all the way through the ranks. Patient, good work ethic, he is bossing the midfield at the moment because of his decision-making.

“He is not yet where I want him to be, but baby-steps, he is getting there. He has shown a lot of progress.”

SuperSport are next in action on Sunday when they face another difficult away match, this time at Swallows FC.

“It is another tough game, you know how Swallows are, a good team playing good football. We just have to recover and be fresh for Sunday.”
