Golden Arrows claimed a 2-1 victory over Richards Bay in a DStv Premiership match played at the Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale on Saturday afternoon.

The victory in the KwaZulu-Natal Derby left Abafana Bes'thende placed eighth in the league standings and they will be targeting their third consecutive victory when they face off with SuperSport United in Durban on 3 April.

The Natal Rich Boys, on the other hand, remained 15th in the league standings and they will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways when they lock horns with champions Mamelodi Sundowns in Pretoria on 2 April.

The two teams attacked each other from the first minute and the deadlock was broken in the 28th minute.

Nduduzo Sibiya made it two goals in as many matches when he netted to hand Arrows a 1-0 lead, with Siyanda Mthanti providing the assist.

The Natal Rich Boys responded by pushing for the equalising goal and they got it through Somila Ntsundwana, who found the back of the net in the 44th minute.

The score was 1-1 during the halftime break following a first half which saw the visitors fight back to level matters.

The hosts were the better side after the restart with Steve Komphela's side eager to restore their lead.

The experienced coach decided to introduce Olwethu Ncube on the hour-mark and it proved to be a great move by Komphela.

Ncube handed Arrows a 2-1 lead when the 25-year-old turned home a wonderful cross from Mthanti with 15 minutes left on the clock.

Richards Bay pushed for a late equalising goal, but the hosts were solid at the back and held on for the victory.
