The final fixtures for 2023 in this week's DStv Premiership were a cracker, as a number of teams registered convincing wins in hope of finishing off the year on a positive note.

Starting off with AmaZulu had a comfortable victory against Royal AM in the KZN derby, with Usuthu putting three goals past Thwili Twala with no reply at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Royal AM charmain and midfielder Andile Mpisane made headlines as he featured in the DStv Premiership for the very first time in his career.

It would unfortunately be a debut to forget for the 22 year old, who struggled to find his feet during the match and ultimately had to be substituted by John Maduka.

The win for AmaZulu gave them a huge boost in the league standings, as the KZN outfit found themselves in seventh position with 22 points.

Stellenbosch also gave an impressive display of football during their fixture against Orlando Pirates, as they made an inspiring comeback against their opponents.

Pirates seemed to have a steady grip of the match as they doubled their lead in the beginning stages of the second half, however they were left completely exposed - leading the team to concede three goals as Stellenbosch walked away with the three points.

The win for Stellies also ensured that they replaced Pirates in fourth place in the DStv Premiership standings.

League leaders Mamelodi Sundowns were held to a goalless draw against Polokwane City and elsewhere, Kaizer Chiefs played to a 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs.
