Kaizer Chiefs coach Cavin Johnson said he did not know whether he would stay on as coach next season as his run as interim coach continued to deliver mixed results.

Johnson has overseen 13 games at Chiefs since being appointed caretaker after the sacking of Molefi Ntseki in October, winning five times, drawing four and losing four.

Asked after Saturday’s DSTV Premiership draw against Cape Town City at the Athlone Stadium whether he had been approached to stay on next season in a permanent tole, he said: “I don't know. But we'll see. It's all in the hands of the Almighty.”

Johnson insisted however his current role at the club was anything but temporary.

“I will tell you, I will really inform you there's no such thing as interim coach. You take the team and you work until the team doesn't need you anymore.

“So yes, I'm doing the best I can as a coach and taking this brand of football to the best that we can for the last nine games of the season.”

Saturday’s goalless stalemate at the Athlone Stadium kept Chiefs in seventh spot, five points behind second placed Stellenbosch, who they meet next at Soccer City on Tuesday.

Chiefs will complete an eighth successive season without silverware as they continue their trophy drought but still have a chance to grab a spot in continental club competition next season if they finish in the top three.
