Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson has indicated he could shake up the team for their DStv Premiership clash with Chippa United at the Buffalo City Stadium on Saturday, April 6. Kick-off is at 3pm CAT (SA, GMT+2)

Current form:

Johnson was unhappy with the performance of his players as the Glamour Boys slumped to a 1-0 defeat against high-flying Stellenbosch at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday, April 2.

It was their second loss in three games and Amakhosi have fallen to eighth in the standings, eight points adrift of the CAF Champions League places.

Chiefs have only picked up one win from six matches since the mid-season break and Johnson insists they need to get back to playing proper football in East London.

The Chilli Boys halted a two-match losing streak with their 2-0 victory over basement dwellers Cape Town Spurs at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Wednesday, April 3.

Thabo September and Kwanele Kopo's side made the biggest gains in the bottom half of the table after they leapfrogged Royal AM (14th), Moroka Swallows (13th) and AmaZulu (12th) into 11th spot.

Chippa pulled 12 points clear of the relegation zone with their sixth win of the season and September believes they will only get stronger in the final two months.

What was said:

Chippa United co-coach Thabo September

"We are doing well. The defeat at Polokwane was our second in five games in the league, where we managed to collect five points (after picking up one win and two draws).

It (Chippa's form) is going to pick up. From here the aim is to win all the games but we know that it won't be easy because this league is competitive."

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson

"We must go back, try again and put different players on the pitch, and let's see what happens. But in saying that we didn't get it right.

"I'm not happy with the performance from lots of the players but we have to fix them up. We have to come back, and we have another game on Saturday against Chippa, we have to try our best, we need the points more than any other team in the PSL.

"The players need to play more of a technical [game], they need to be better technically, and we have to pass the ball better. Be the confidence you are, be the Kaizer Chiefs you are, and play proper football."

Players to watch:

Chippa United - Kayden Francis will be pushing for only his third start of the campaign after stepping off the bench to score against the Urban Warriors. The 20-year-old midfielder has now bagged two goals in his last two appearances for his hometown club and will be eager to showcase his talent against the Soweto giants.

Kaizer Chiefs - Christian Saile could be one of those recalled to the starting line-up after he showed some intent against Stellies following his introduction at halftime. The DR Congo striker, who has scored just three goals in 22 appearances, forced Sage Stephens into a low save on 49 minutes after cutting inside from the right flank and he had another shot deflected inches over the crossbar eight minutes later.
