Dawa Hotessa inspires Hadiya, Hawassa beat Hambericho
Hadiya Hossana beat Bahir Dar City 1-0 in the Ethiopia Premier League on Friday thanks to the goal-scoring heroics of legendary striker Dawa Hotessa.
Hawassa City, meanwhile, beat relegation-threatened Hambericho Durame 2-0 in the day's other fixture.
The headlines for Hadiya belonged to Dawa Hotessa who returned to Hadiya after two seasons away at Adama.
Hotessa struck as early as the fifth minute, a goal that proved decisive.
Hotessa had been a cult hero during his first stint at Hadiya, forming a prolific strike partnership with Kalusha Alhassan.
The win moves the ultra-defensive Hadiya to 10th place, up two places from 12th with Bahir Dar in eighth spot.
Hawassa City, meanwhile, moved up to 11th position on the log following their 2-0 win over Hambericho.
The game had been quite competitive in the first half with no goals.
However, Ali Sulieman scored for Hawassa on 56 minutes, and they then had to keep Hambericho at bay for the rest of the game.
Hawassa put the game to bed in the third minute of added time.
Tebarek Hefemo scored the back-breaking second goal to give Hawassa the 2-0 win which keeps Hambericho rooted at the bottom of the log.
