Fasil beat Shashemene, Hawassa and Wolkite share spoils
A Fikadu Alemu brace saw Fasil beat relegated Shashemene City 2-1 in the Ethiopia Premier League on Thursday while Hawassa City and Wolkite played to a 2-2 draw.
Shashemene City kept Fasil at bay until halftime and they remained competitive for most of the second half until Alemu converted a 78th-minute penalty to give Fasil a 1-0 lead.
Alemu completed his brace to extend the lead to 2-0 with 90+2 minutes gone and it looked like game, set and match.
However, there was still enough time for Shashemene City to pull a goal back one minute later courtesy of Huzaf Ali's goal on 90+3 minutes.
In the day's other encounter, Wolkite came from behind twice to hold Hawassa to a 2-2 draw, a result which proves irrelevant to their Premier League status.
Abdulbasit Kemal gave Hawassa the lead in the 32nd minute and they led 1-0 at the break.
Gadisa Mebrate equalised for Wolkite City from the penalty spot in the 49th minute.
Hawassa would go ahead with a penalty of their own in the 64th minute, but Wolkite equalised in the 82nd minute through Gadisa Mebrate who notched a brace.
