Hawassa overcome Wolkite, Fasil too strong for Shashemene
Hawassa City piled more misery on Wolkite City on Sunday by winning their Ethiopia Premier League clash 2-1, while Fasil Kenema beat Shashemene City 2-0 in the day's other encounter.
Wolkite City had a good start with the opening goal coming from Abubekher Sani in the 28th minute.
However, Ali Sulieman equalised for Hawassa City just two minutes later.
The scores were tied at 1-1 at halftime, but Hawassa went ahead soon after the restart.
Addisu Atula scored the winner for Hawassa in the 46th minute.
Fasil Kenema, meanwhile, needed goals from two veterans to put daylight between them and Shashemene City.
Shashemene had held them goalless through the first half but Fasil broke their resistance in the second half.
Getaneh Kebede broke the deadlock in the 49th minute to give Fasil a 1-0 lead.
Fasil doubled their advantage in the third minute of added time at the death courtesy of Gathouch Panom.
Fasil move up to fourth on the table above Ethiopia Coffee, while Hawassa climb to 12th. Wolkite remain 14th and Shashemene City 15th.
