Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker has extend his contract at the Winelands club for another three years, binding him to them until 2026.

It is known that contract negotiations have been on-going for several weeks and it likely the deal will come as a relief to both club and coach.

The 54-year-old Barker is already the coach with longest continual service of the 16 DStv Premiership coaches, having passed five years in charge in June.
He has taken the club up from the second tier, winning the National First Division crown with Stellenbosch in 2019.
A former Wits University midfielder, Barker first coached at University of Pretoria and took them to the Nedbank Cup in 2009 when they were still in the second tier. They won promotion in 2012 and he stayed with them until poached by AmaZulu in 2015 for a brief stint that ended in relegation.
Barker has taken charge of 202 top-flight matches at AmaTuks, AmaZulu and Stellenbosch.
