The result marks only their second victory in U-20 World Cup history, the first being a 2–0 triumph over Honduras in 2009.

Siwelele FC striker Siviwe Magidigidi starred with a brace, while Siviwe Nkwali, Shakeel April, and Lazola Maku each added a goal to complete the rout.

Head coach Raymond Mdaka made two changes to the starting XI, introducing Mfundo Vilakazi and Magidigidi in place of Kutlwano Letlhaku and Jody Ah Shene. The tactical tweaks paid off immediately, with South Africa dominating possession early on as New Caledonia struggled to make their long-ball strategy count.

Magidigidi nearly opened the scoring in the ninth minute when his cross deflected off a defender and rattled the crossbar. The breakthrough came in the 25th minute, as Nkwali rose highest to head home a pinpoint cross from Langelihle Phili.

Amajita doubled their lead nine minutes later when April calmly slotted in a penalty after Magidigidi was fouled inside the box. Just before the break, Magidigidi got on the scoresheet himself, finishing off a well-worked move to send South Africa into halftime with a 3–0 lead.

The second half saw more of the same, with Amajita continuing to dominate. Magidigidi bagged his second in the 52nd minute, capping off a slick assist from Vilakazi, who registered his second of the match.

South Africa kept pressing for more goals to boost their goal difference, and in the 80th minute, Maku unleashed a stunning long-range strike to seal the emphatic win.

Despite the victory, Amajita remain third in Group E, level on three points with France, who earlier lost 3–0 to the USA. However, the result propelled South Africa to the top of the best third-placed teams ranking.

Amajita will face the USA in their final group match on Sunday, 5 October at 10 PM at Estadio El Teniente.
