The 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup - Qatar 2022™ will be played from 20 November to 18 December in Qatar, the first played in the Arab world. This global showpiece will feature 32 countries from five confederations. You can watch all the action live on SuperSport.

Here are all the details you need to know about Qatar 2022 -  teams, groups, fixtures, stadiums, and how to follow the action.

THE GROUPS

All matches will be available from Compact to Premium with select fixtures on lower packages. On GOtv, all matches will be available on the Supa Package. Showmax Pro, MultiChoice’s streaming platform, will also stream all 64 matches. All matches will also be available on the DStv app.

MULTI-LANGUAGE OPTIONS

The Catch Up service will also host a wealth of World Cup content to help ensure viewers need not miss a thing.

With multi-language options and an array of support programming, the 22nd World Cup will be SuperSport’s most ambitious yet and will include a 24-hour channel for the duration of the event.

A strong panel of experts and analysts is also being lined up to add to the depth of coverage.

Allied to this, SuperSport’s digital offering will be highlighted by a Fifa World Cup section launched on its newly designed website in November.

With dedicated writers for Africa’s participants - Cameroon, Morocco, Tunisia, Ghana, and Senegal – the digital content will also have enhanced scores and data coverage, including player and team data, heat maps, formations, in-depth statistics, short format clips and highlight videos, plus extensive news, video and statistical coverage across website, app, and decoders.

The group phase will be played from 21 November to 2 December, then the Round of 16 from 3-6 December.

The quarterfinals will be played on 9 and 10 December, with the semifinals on 13 and 14 December. The play-off for the third place will be played on 17 December, a day before the final - 18 December.

MASCOT

Qatar and FIFA have unveiled La’eeb as the Official Mascot for this year’s FIFA World Cup 2022™. La’eeb is an Arabic word meaning super-skilled player. He belongs to a parallel mascot-verse that is indescribable – everyone is invited to interpret what it looks like. La’eeb encourages everyone to believe in themselves as ‘Now is All’. He will bring the joy of football to everyone.

OFFICIAL MATCH BALL

The Official Match Ball of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ is known as Al Rihla, it is the 14th successive ball adidas has created for the FIFA World Cup and translates into “the journey” in Arabic after taking its inspiration from the architecture, iconic boats, and national flag of Qatar. The ball was designed with the environment at its heart - all components have been carefully considered, and Al Rihla is the first World Cup ball made using only water-based inks and glues.

OFFICIAL SOUNDTRACK

The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ Official Soundtrack is a single, Hayya Hayya (Better Together), featuring Trinidad Cardona, Davido and Aisha, ahead of tonight’s final draw for the tournament. The combination of breakthrough US star Trinidad Cardona, Afrobeats icon Davido and Qatari sensation Aisha captures the spirit of the FIFA World Cup™ and the FIFA Sound strategy by bringing together inspiration from across the globe.
