As an acknowledgement of Your World of Champions’ dedication to outstanding sports broadcasting, SuperSport received multiple awards throughout 2024, each serving to highlight our contribution to the broadcast industry and the services we provide our viewers across Africa.

SuperSport viewers have become accustomed to experiencing ground-breaking feats by the world’s best sportsmen and women on their screens. But making this possible, is a group of individuals of equal proficiency and excellence, making sure fans get nothing less than the best in sport and sports entertainment.

To validate our stellar content output, SuperSport received 10 Promax awards in November. Two gold medals in the Promax awards were collected for our Paris 2024 Closer To Your Champions campaign while eight silvers were for the following campaigns: Be Better; Dream Beyond The Game; Vodacom URC SuperSport Head of Performance (Gerrie); Phaka; ATP; New Football Season – I Want It All; Closer To Your Champions (Paris 2024) and UFC: History in Your Own Words (Dricus du Plessis v Sean Strickland).

Internationally, SuperSport was nominated for the Broadcast Service International Awards for Internet Protocol (IP) technology outside broadcast (OB) trucks. This is in recognition of the world-class outside broadcast facilities that bring fans the world-class broadcasts they have become accustomed to.

Following the addition of IP1 in 2023, one of the world’s largest outside broadcast trucks in its fleet – SuperSport added an equally capable new unit, IP2 in January 2024.

Thanks to its unique technical architecture, the IP2 OB truck efficiently and resiliently meets all the needs of modern, large-scale outside broadcast productions. This represents a completely new generation of flexibility, creative power and operational efficiency.

From top-tier technology to top-tier magazine shows, the recognition of SuperSport’s unwavering commitment to giving fans an unrivalled holistic coverage is best exemplified through Fanbase.

The football magazine show nabbed a victory at the inaugural Behind The Scenes Awards in the Most Informative Talk Show category.

Fanbase was launched in 2020 as a platform for football fans to share their views on their favourite teams. The show is produced by Nono Cele Xaba, Karabo Pholoba and Tsheamo Legoati and is currently hosted by Lindiwe Dube every Sunday at 17:30 on SuperSport PSL (DStv Channel 202).

To connect with fans outside Gauteng, Fanbase has held several roadshows. The show was taken to Umlazi for the DStv Diski Challenge 10-year celebration at King Zwelithini Stadium and it also travelled to Mpumalanga, where fans participated in large numbers.

“The undeniable dedication of the Fanbase team to go above and beyond to build a community and platform for football-loving South Africans is a testament to the undoubted dedication to offer viewers nothing but the best and this award is in recognition of that,” said SuperSport CEO Rendani Ramovha.
