Forrester extends the Knights' lead over Boland
Dian Forrester scored a brilliant half-century as he steered the Knights to 193/3 at tea on the third day of their CSA 4-Day Series match against Goldrush Boland at Boland Park on Saturday.
The Knights lead Boland by 193 runs with seven wickets in hand. The two sides recorded identical first-innings scores, both chalking 266 runs in their respective innings. The Knights had Dian Forrester (70*) and Gihahn Cloete (6*) at the crease at the interval.
Dian Forrester made up for not converting his first-innings start into a substantial score by registering a brisk fourth first-class half-century. He faced 66 deliveries to chalk the milestone.
The Limpopo-born batter played with positive intent from the moment he arrived at the crease. The Knights had two new batters in the middle, following the dismissals of Isaac Dikgale and Lesego Senokwane just before the lunch break, but Forrester approached the match as if he had been at the crease for an extended period.
Forrester shared a brilliant 98-run third-wicket partnership with Garnett Tarr. The 24-year-old played a more measured innings compared to Forrester's strokeplay. The No 3 batter scored 39 off 80 deliveries and was undone by a short ball from Keith Dudgeon.
The Boland pacer was responsible for running out Senokwane before the lunch break. From the morning, the 28-year-old was steaming in, hitting aggressive lengths, as he tried to get his side a breakthrough. Dudgeon was rewarded for his backbreaking work with Tarr's wicket.
Keith Dudgeon was the sole wicket-taker in the post-lunch period. He has a single wicket for 23 runs in 11 overs in the second innings. Shaun von Berg, the other wicket-taker in the innings, has one for 48 in 13 overs.
