Dramatic resignation from TS Galaxy coach

TS Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic dramatically quit his job live on SuperSport on Wednesday at the conclusion of their Betway Premiership clash against Stellenbosch in Cape Town, despite gaining valuable point in a 1-1 draw.

He said he was quitting after praising the time he had spent with the team when interviewed directly after the match./

But at the later press conference he hinted at frustration over the club’s continued sale of players while saying he wanted to spend more time with his elderly parents.

“When I came, everybody knows this team was on the bottom. It was a mess, let me say on this way. But after I arrived with my staff, I think we had a beautiful three years,” said Ramovic after 104 games in charge, including a top eight finish last season and a place in the Carling Knockout final where Stellenbosch beat them on penalties.

“It was a lot of beautiful memories, a lot of beautiful victories, a lot of beautiful games we played.

“We sold 12 players to the best teams in our league. I think, if I'm not mistaken, the club got around more than R40-million for these players in the last two seasons, which is just amazing.

“In the end, I would like to win something, and if you sell every year, half of your team and to start from the scratch again is not easy, because it takes a lot of energy.

“I will go away and wait for the right offer, right job, and if this kind of right offer comes out, I will try my best.”

Ramovic, who is the second coach after Pablo Franco at AmaZulu to leave his job since the start of the season, also said he wanted more time with his family.

“I would like to spend more with my parents, because they are old. They came with me when I arrived, but they spent only eight months. They cannot fly so much now, and you never know, because my father is 76 years old and you never know how much time I can see my father. So it's time to spend with them, it's time to see them and with my kids too.”

The Galaxy coach said he had told chairman Tim Sukazi and the players of his decision before the game.

“It was a beautiful to go into war the last time with them. And I have to say a big thank you to all my players. To all my staff, to everyone in the club, and I can promise every player that comes into this club, they will enjoy it because it's one of the most amazing environments at any club that I have worked,” he added.
