Ethiopia Nigd and Bahir Dar share spoils, Ethiopia Coffee spank Wolkite

Ethiopia Premier League title challengers Ethiopia Nigd Bank and Bahir Dar City played to a 2-2 draw on Thursday, while Ethiopia Coffee all but confined Wolkite City to relegation with an emphatic   4-0 win.

In the first game, Bahir Dar City drew first blood at the half-hour mark with Tsegaye Abera's 30th-minute giving them a 1-0 lead.

Abera completed his brace eight minutes later to give the Tana Waves a 2-0 lead, which they protected until halftime.

Bahir Dar dominated proceedings early in the second half and pressed for a third goal, but the Bankers tightened up defensively.

Ethiopia Nigd eventually got a break when they won a late penalty which Addis Gidey converted to narrow the gap.

Gidey had the last say with his own brace in added time to level scores at 2-2.

Ethiopia Coffee ran riot in the second game at Hawassa International Stadium, beating Wolkite City 4-0.

They scored early in the game through Befekadu Alemayehu in the 16th minute to go 1-0 up.

Their second goal arrived 10 minutes later with Mohammednur Nasir giving them a 26th-minute goal for 2-0 lead.

They went up 3-0 in the 87th minute through Anteneh Tefera and Sintayehu Waleche completed the rout in added time.

Ethiopia Nigd Bank still lead the log with 57 points followed by Mekelakeya (51 points), Ethiopia Coffee (47 points) and Bahir Dar (46 points).
