Change of approach key for Arrows

A change of approach has been key for Lamontville Golden Arrows, says coach Mabhuti Khenyeza, after they reinforced their second place in the DStv Premiership table with a 2-1 win away over Cape Town Spurs on Tuesday.
The win was their fourth in seven games and sees them on 14 points, four behind runaway leaders Mamelodi Sundowns who are in action on Wednesday.
“It's important for us to get a grip as quick as possible,” he said after victory at the Athlone Stadium.
“Last season was very, very difficult for us. We only managed to escape relegation in the last three games.”
As a result, he said there had been a change in approach from the club.
“We’ve also changed a lot of other things, especially our preparations. And then the style of play because we can't be a team which is going to just play around and look good, but we're not productive and effective.
“That's why in our recruitment we’ve signed two big strikers when the team in the past was known for short, nippy strikers, but football is changing as you can see globally.”
This year the side are looking to Ryan Moon and Lungelo Nguse, who scored both goals against Spurs on Tuesday. Knox Mutizwa has been unable to regain his place in the side.
“I need to have a reference up front, that can hold up the ball and then try to combine and compete. So in the second half, we introduced two strikers, because we needed power to challenge them and see what we could get out of the game.”
The move worked as substitute Nguse netted the double to ensure all the points.
