SuperSportBet is backing the Carling Currie Cup in 2024, having confirmed on Thursday that it wishes to become the official betting partner to the world’s oldest domestic rugby championship.

Managing Director of SuperSportBet, Grant Greeff, said the association underscores SuperSportBet’s commitment to promoting and supporting the sport of rugby while bringing enhanced experiences to rugby fans across the nation.

“The Carling Currie Cup plays a significant role for both professional rugby talent and rugby fans in South Africa and we’re looking forward to a season filled with thrilling matches and enhanced fan experiences from our association,” said Greeff.

Rian Oberholzer, CEO of SA Rugby said the collaboration would provide mutual growth opportunities as a platform to increase brand visibility for SuperSportBet while the company’s promotional efforts and resources would further solidify the Carling Currie Cup’s position as a premier rugby competition.

“By investing in the future of the sport, SuperSportBet will be contributing to the growth and nurturing of rugby talent, ensuring the long-term success and popularity of rugby in South Africa,” said Oberholzer.

“I’d like to thank the team at SuperSportBet for seeing the opportunity and joining us in what will be a new departure for us to have a betting partner for a rugby competition.”

Greeff stated: “Our partnership with the Carling Currie Cup enables us to offer an engaging lens into the tournament and to elevate the betting experience to ensure fans are immersed in the sporting action.”

Both parties emphasised the importance of responsible betting practices at the announcement: “Our goal is to ensure that sports betting remains a fun and enjoyable activity, with measures in place to support those who need assistance,” said Greeff.

Carling Currie Cup followers will recognise SuperSportBet’s involvement from this weekend with further innovations in the pipeline for the remainder of the season.
